Tandem skydiving is a type of skydiving where a student skydiver is connected to a harness attached to a tandem instructor. The instructor guides the student through the entire jump from exit through freefall, piloting the canopy, and landing.
Yes, Please see the chart below. We will not accept a passenger over 225lbs. If you are approaching the upper boundaries, please give us a call. We can discuss options, however often times passengers close to this level will require onsite approval. There is a $30 Surcharge for anyone above 220lbs due to additional equipment wear and fuel expense.
Yes, we offer video and photo packages so you can relive your tandem skydive experience and share it with friends and family. Our professional videographers will capture your jump from start to finish.

Yes, tandem skydiving is considered very safe. At Skydive South Dakota, we use state-of-the-art equipment and our instructors are highly experienced. Safety is our top priority, and we follow strict protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
During a tandem skydive, you will be securely attached to an experienced instructor who will guide you through the entire process. You will experience a thrilling freefall followed by a peaceful parachute descent, all while enjoying the stunning views of the Black Hills.
The entire tandem skydiving experience, including training, the flight up, the jump, and landing, typically takes around 2-3 hours. The freefall itself lasts about 60 seconds, followed by a 5-7 minute parachute descent.
For a tandem skydive, you should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and secure, closed-toe shoes. Avoid wearing anything too loose or with dangling parts that could get caught in the equipment.
If the weather is not suitable for skydiving on the day of your scheduled jump, we will reschedule your skydive for another day. Safety is our top priority, and we will not conduct jumps in unsafe weather conditions.
